We got together with
Chaka, Patti and
Fantasia on who
should follow the wreckage left after each of
their performances. If you were there for
any of them, you know we aint lyin' (LOL)!
The one name that kept coming up was LEDISI.
We consulted with industry insiders on "who
should close out an era?"
What artist could put an exclamation point
on the last night of the last Winter
Explosion Experience? Thinking we
should should go for another big name, another
legend, someone with "mass appeal", we
braced ourselves for this critical feedback.
The one name that kept
coming up was LEDISI.
Finally,
we met the Artist herself backstage at Blues
Alley (Washington, DC). After giving a
breath-taking, fiery,
vocally-astounding performance, Ledisi
was still bubbly and friendly... as if it was 12 noon
on a summer day and we encountered her
daydreaming of good things on a park bench.
WE Exec. Producer dared to take this opportunity
to ask Ms. Led about a
possible interest in performing at WE. In
her response, she shared that she already
knew about WE: "The Experience" from good
friend and "friend-to-Winter Explosion", Ms.
Chaka Khan. She further stated she'd
be honored to be considered:
"Baby, I'll give em' a performance they'll never
forget!" That sealed it.
